Core Development and HostAid Debut The Artisan Lofts in Northern Liberties
Philadelphia, PA - Core Development and HostAid are proud to announce the launch of The Artisan Lofts, a landmark mixed-use project in Northern Liberties that celebrates the neighborhood’s creative legacy while meeting the evolving needs of today’s travelers and residents.
The property features 16 residences, including nine large-format short-term rental units designed to accommodate group travel — a fast-growing segment of the hospitality market.
Situated in the heart of Northern Liberties, The Artisan Lofts is surrounded by acclaimed restaurants, cafés, boutiques, and nightlife that have made the area one of Philadelphia’s most dynamic destinations.
“This project reflects our vision of creating properties that are both rooted in history and attuned to the way people live and travel today,” said Pete Staz, Partner at Core Development. “Northern Liberties is a neighborhood alive with energy, and we’re proud to add something that contributes to its momentum.”
The interiors at The Artisan Lofts were designed by Studio MaRō, a Brooklyn-based design studio founded by Nicky Kyrtsis and Carmen Cárdenas. With backgrounds in Broadway, film, and television, they approach interiors as “living narratives—layered, refined, and richly expressive,” ensuring that “each project is a bespoke composition, where form meets feeling, and every detail is considered with the precision of a film frame.” The result is beautifully atmospheric, story-driven spaces that are both evocative and eminently livable.
Adding to its unique character, the building was once the studio of renowned artist Ray King, whose large-scale, light-based installations are displayed across the U.S. and around the world. The redevelopment of The Artisan Lofts honors that history while breathing new life into a building long connected to Northern Liberties’ vibrant art scene.
Kevin Wilson, CEO and Founder of HostAid, added: “Group travel has been reshaping the way people experience cities, and The Artisan Lofts is built with that in mind. By offering large, beautifully designed residences in one of Philadelphia’s most exciting neighborhoods, we’re creating a new standard for what short-term rentals can be.”
The Artisan Lofts is the first collaboration between Core Development and HostAid in Northern Liberties and is part of a broader vision. The partnership is already underway on its second project, at 2nd and Arch Street in Old City, expanding their hospitality-driven developments across Philadelphia.
